Whitehall, PA – Tonight’s SOLD OUT event takes place at the famous Planet Trog. Upon squeezing into the venue, all I could see was audience from wall to wall. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this place has been this packed. As I try to fight my way in through the crowd I noticed the band up on stage was my friends in Cedar Green finishing their set. I wish I had known they were opening as I would’ve arrived a little bit earlier. The thing you should know about this venue is that this place isn’t huge. It’s a small club with a 400+ person capacity. It is connected to an indoor laser tag arena.
On July 15th – 17th, local Lehigh Valley mainstays Double Decker Records and Square of Opposition Records celebrate 20 years and 15 years (respectively) the only way they know how by throwing a 3-day long diy, punk, hardcore, power-violence fest featuring some of the best that’s ever came out of the Lehigh Valley!!
The event will take place at Merchant Square Mall (right off of I-78) right where they have flea markets and wrestling matches (for this unfamiliar with the area, yes, this our thing and it’s awesome.)
“Metallica were the first band, in 2008, to celebrate Record Store Day with an appearance at their local record store, and have released RSD and BF titles at record stores throughout the history of Record Store Day, making them a very good choice to be the Ambassador…”
For the last few years, Radio 104.5, Philly’s #1 alternative rock station, has been putting on free festival-like events throughout the city featuring some of the biggest national touring acts. Winter Jam has rightly earned its name. Last year (headed by The Gaslight Anthem), a massive Nor’easter snowstorm plowed through the region hours before doors even opened. The previous year, Twenty-One Pilots and Switchfoot performed through a blizzard. Before that, Tegan & Sara performed in sub-freezing temperatures.
So it was with great pleasure that we received clears skies with an inexplicably warm high of 63 degrees for the 2016 event held at Xfinity Live, nestled next to the Wells Fargo Center.
